Moderate with a couple of climbs/8-10 mph/approx 20 miles/approx elevation 800 ft

Join us on a beautiful picturesque ride & breath taking views of San Francisco, Mt Tam and the Marin Headlands as a backdrop. Ferry to the largest natural island in the San Francisco Bay. We have reserved the North Garrison Group Campsite for those of us who choose to camp 1-2 nites with opportunities to see the sunrise and the sunset. Visit the historical site with hiking, biking, camping facilities and tram tours.

Bike & Camp Option: Meet 8:30 am at the front entrance of  the SF Ferry Building for a 9:00 start. We will bike thru iconic spots of the city as we approach and cross the Golden Gate bridge into Sausalito to Tiburon where we will catch the ferry to Angel Island. The bike route can be up to 22 miles and 800 feet of climbing to our destination. This is mostly a flat route with rollers except for the approach to the GG Bridge and in parts of Marin. As a reminder… you will be traveling with the weight of your camp gear. Of course….you can also walk the bike in sections. Once on the island, there is a 5 mile loop around the perimeter of the island (300 ft elevation) which can be done on the same or next day. There will be an opportunity to pick up food before arriving on the island.

Bike Only Option: It is best to catch BART and purchase a ticket online to catch the ferry directly to Angel Island near the Ferry Building. The 10:55 am ferry is recommended. The web recommends you be there at least 15 minutes before departure time. You will have time to explore the island before meeting the Bike/Camper group at 1:30 at the Angel Island dock. Accompany the group to the North Garrison campsite and ride the 5 mile loop around the perimeter (300 ft elevation) and explore other activities. Visit the museum, beaches or take a tram tour. Leave the island by 4:55 pm and return to the SF terminal and BART for home. Spend the nite if you miss your return back.
