SUMMARY:Marin Headlands and Sausalito
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\nSaturday\, August 16th\nMarin Headlands and Sausalito.\nApprox 35 miles; 3500 feet climbing.\nMeet at 10:15 am at San Francisco Ferry Building in the back by the closed Slanted Door restaurant.  Best to arrive early\, so we’ll have time to sign our Ride Waiver form. Ride rolls at 10:30 am.  Starting from the Ferry Building\, we will ride up the Embarcadero\, through the Marina\, up to the GG Bridge then up Cozumel – to the some of the best views of the bridge and San Francisco.  Then we can enjoy the long\, steep one-way descent to Point Bonita and back through the tunnel to get to Sausalito – where we will stop for food\, etc.  Then we climb back to the GG Bridge\, through the Presidio to GG Park\, down Page Street to Market Street and the Civic Center Bart Station.   \nThis route has some challenging climbs – but you can skip Cozumel and go straight down to Sausalito (and wait there for the rest to show up).  That will give you only one big climb: to get back up to the GG Bridge.   \nThe ride will be canceled if there 90 plus degree weather or a 30% or greater chance of rain for Saturday. From there\, we will ride through parts of the Alexander Valley wine country into Healdsburg for coffee & pastries at the Quail and Condor. The route will continue through the backroads of the wine country as we make our way to The Barlow in Sebastopol. After a food stop\, the journey takes us onto the Santa Rosa Creek trail to Railroad Square in Santa Rosa where we’ll board the train back to the start. \nThis is an ALL DAY excursion with a late return and not for everyone. We are catching the 6:21 pm on the return from Santa Rosa. The previous train at 4:11 is doubtful. \nMeet 9:00 a.m. at the Larkspur SMART Train platform. Please be there on time\, the train leaves at 9:30 and waits for no one. If you’re 65+ the ride is FREE but you’ll need your Clipper Card to board. DESCRIPTION:moderate terrain/10-14 mph/approx 32 miles/elevation 978 ft\nIf you’re looking for a nice relaxed no stress social or recovery ride\, meet 10:00 a.m. at Lucky’s California in Pleasanton. The route starts out flat on the Iron Horse Trail and returns on flats along Alcosta Blvd. A gradual pastoral grade into the Las Trampas Wilderness Regional Park is in the middle of the route.  \nTaking BART?  \nGet off at the end of the Pleasanton Dublin Bart line. Exit on the Pleasanton side\, go down on Willow Rd approx. 1 mile. Right turn on W. Las Positas. Lucky’s is at the Hopyard intersection.  \nYou may sign the waiver ahead of time on cherrycitycyclists.com.
