SUMMARY:A Taste of the Wine Country Via SMART Train
DESCRIPTION:Moderate terrain/8-12 mph/approx 35 miles/elevation 1\,630 ft\nIf you want a taste of what it is like riding through the wine country\, follow me and ride the SMART Train to Windsor. On this excursion\, you’ll ride rolling terrains of vineyards and see early blooms in the beautiful Alexander Valley. Perhaps\, this will tempt you into coming back for more.  \nTo do this\, you will need a Clipper to board the train. As of 1/13/26 the rides on the SMART (anywhere) for seniors is still FREE. \nhttps://www.sonomamarintrain.org/ \n Meet 9:00 am at Johny’s Doughnuts at the Marin Country Mart. If you plan to indulge in an artisan donut arrive earlier. You can also eat it on the train. There are also clean restrooms on the train. \nWe will leave promptly at 9:15 to board SMART at 9:30. We are boarding at the beginning of the line and disembarking at the end of the line which is now the Windsor Station. SUMMARY:Tour of Lamorinda
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\nSaturday\, January 17th\nStart in Orinda and ride some great cycling roads of the area.\n1100 or 1900 ft climbing; approx 20 or 22 miles.\nMeet at 10:15 am at the Orinda Library (cafe) 2 blocks north of Orinda BART.  Best to arrive early\, so we’ll have time to sign our Ride Waiver form. Ride rolls at 10:30 am from Orinda.  We start with an easy climb over to Moraga\, then mostly downhill to Lafayette (where we can do a food stop)\, then up Happy Valley.  We will then have option of an easy return through back roads\, or a return with some great climbs and descents (including Papa Bear).  These are mostly very scenic country roads and trails. \nThe ride will be canceled if there is 90 plus degree weather or a 30% or greater chance of rain for Saturday. SUMMARY:San Francisco Ferry Bldg to Sausalito/Tiburon
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\nSaturday\, December 27th\nFerry Building to Sausalito/Tiburon.  Approx 20 or 40/45 miles\, 2500 ft.\nLet’s take BART and meet at 10:20 am at the pier behind the Slanted Door of the San Francisco Ferry Building. You may sign the waiver ahead of time on cherrycitycyclists.com. Here is Ride Waiver Form link. \nRide rolls at 10:30 am The ride will go through Chinatown and North Beach\, then through Marina Dist and across the GGB to Sausalito (where the weather should be nicer than the rest of the bay area).  We can decide whether to proceed on to Tiburon and eat there.  And then we can decide whether to take the Paradise loop on the way back.   There are moderate climbs along a mostly flat route.  There are a couple of climbs getting to the Golden Gate Bridge and another one climbing out of Sausalito in returning to San Francisco. The route is lovely with awesome views/neighborhoods. Lots of regroups; this is a pleasurable/touring ride. We will be returning by riding through the presidio to Golden Gate Park\, through the Haight-Asbury and Hayes Valley districts to the Civic Center BART. \nBring water\, snack\, money for BART and food stop in Sausalito or Tiburon. Rain Cancels.  Note that even if it is nice weather downtown and in Marin\, it can be foggy\, wet\, and windy going across the bridge.  The ride will be canceled if there 90 plus degree weather or a 30% or greater chance of rain for Saturday. In returning we might use the Water Shuttle on the Oakland side (located in Jack London Square to get back to Alameda.  Elevation Gain of 528 ft so it is definitely a flat ride. DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\nSaturday\, August 16th\nMarin Headlands and Sausalito.\nApprox 35 miles; 3500 feet climbing.\nMeet at 10:15 am at San Francisco Ferry Building in the back by the closed Slanted Door restaurant.  Best to arrive early\, so we’ll have time to sign our Ride Waiver form. Ride rolls at 10:30 am.  Starting from the Ferry Building\, we will ride up the Embarcadero\, through the Marina\, up to the GG Bridge then up Cozumel – to the some of the best views of the bridge and San Francisco.  Then we can enjoy the long\, steep one-way descent to Point Bonita and back through the tunnel to get to Sausalito – where we will stop for food\, etc.  Then we climb back to the GG Bridge\, through the Presidio to GG Park\, down Page Street to Market Street and the Civic Center Bart Station.   \nThis route has some challenging climbs – but you can skip Cozumel and go straight down to Sausalito (and wait there for the rest to show up).  That will give you only one big climb: to get back up to the GG Bridge.   \nThe ride will be canceled if there 90 plus degree weather or a 30% or greater chance of rain for Saturday. We’ll start by riding down Dublin Blvd and going through an interesting bike and pedestrian Alamo Canal Trail as we go through Pleasanton and Livermore. DESCRIPTION:moderate terrain w/ 1 pitch /10-12 mph/30 miles/elevation 989 ft\nThis is a beautiful coastal ride. Meet 9:30 am in front of Arcangeli Grocery in Pescadeo. We head southbound along the ocean to Ano Nuevo where there will be a brief stop before turning around northbound\, stopping at the Pie Shop. From there\, we head to Gazo Creek Rd. A quiet scenic road with a short little 20 ft 14.5% pitch\, then a downhill that will take us back into Pescadero\, the Goat Farm for cheese and Arcangeli for their famed artichoke bread. Want more miles and hills? There will be a 15 mile option\, out and back to San Gregorio. DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\nSaturday\, July 5th\nModerate hills in the ride: 950/1850 ft elevation\, 10-15 mph\, approx. 25/35 miles \nMeet in front of Shaka Shack (formerly Little House Café)\, 2300 Blanding Ave\, Alameda at 10:15AM and ride at 10:30AM.
