A fairly easy ride through most of SF’s famous or interesting neighborhoods\, with only moderate hills. A stop at Craftsman & Wolves (patisserie) and possible stop to eat in Marina/Cow Hollow. This is a meandering\, sightseeing ride; and while we will encounter urban traffic in a few spots\, it is mostly cycling-friendly. Start and end at the Ferry Building (Embarcadero BART).  Bring mobile phone\, nutrition bars\, water\, and money – and be prepared for some windy and foggy segments. \nThe ride will be canceled if there is a 30% or greater chance of rain for Saturday. DESCRIPTION:Saturday November 16\, 2024\nApprox 26 miles;  1150 feet climbing;  average speed around 10 mph (leisurely)\nThis is a route that goes around SF counterclockwise\, through lots of interesting neighborhoods and areas.  We do not do any big climbs\, except an option to go up Twin Peaks. DESCRIPTION:flats to a moderate climb /10-12 mph/40 miles/elevation 1\,300 ft\nJoin me on a trip to Sebastopol and Mantanzas Creek Winery in Santa Rosa. \nIf you’re on a time schedule and in a hurry to get back\, this is not the ride for you as we are dedicated by a train schedule. \nMeet 9:00 am in front of Johnny’s Doughnuts at the Marin Country Mart. Arrive earlier if you want to get pastries from “Rustic” or a doughnut at “Johnny’s for the train ride.  \nYou may bring food on board. \nAt 9:15 after greetings\, we’ll ride over together to the platform and catch the 9:30 SMART train to Rohnert Park. Have your Clipper Card ready. Go to https://www.sonomamarintrain.org/about-smart if you need ticket information.  \nFrom the Rohnert Park Station\, we’ll make our way to Joe Rodota. This is a dedicated Bike Trail that will take us to The Barlow hub in Sebastopol for a coffee/food stop.  \nAfter the break\, we hop onto another dedicated bike path. The Santa Rosa Creek Trail will take us pass downtown Santa Rosa and out onto Bennett Valley Rd to the winery. The lavender garden should be in bloom. We’ll have a short break to visit the property with enough time to climb Sonoma Mountain Rd.\, enjoying the swooping downhill\, ending at the Cotati Station. We are on board at 4:30. The train will be back at Larkspur at 5:41 pm. \nYou may sign the waiver ahead of time on cherrycitycyclists.com. SUMMARY:Castro Valley to Niles Loop
DESCRIPTION:Saturday June 15\, 2024\n35 miles;  2300 feet climbing;  average speed around 10 mph (leisurely\, with frequent regroupings)\nThis is a ride up and over Palomares to the town of Niles\, then return via Mission Blvd.  Palomares is one of the great local cycling roads: the one big climb is gentle rollers for about 5 miles then steep for the last mile.  The return has no significant hills.  Niles has lots of quaint shops and eateries\, and we will stop there to eat.   \nStart and end at Castro Valley BART.  Meet at 11:00 in front of the main entrance.  Bring water\, bars\, $$ for coffee/food stops.   \nRIDE LEADER:  Steven Yoder   (510) 394-8684    email: steve@zlcsoftware.com
