Tour of SF
May 19 @ 9:00 am
Flats & hills/8-12 mph/approx 37 miles/elevation 2,000
Ride like a local. I’m a native of San Francisco and I love the sights and smell of the city. Come along with me as I navigate through the neighborhoods and stop at some of my favorite spots. This is not a hurried ride.
Meet 9:00 a.m. at the front entrance of the SF Ferry Building along the Embarcadero. Use the restrooms inside the Ferry Building before the meet up. We’ll ride 1 mile to Caffe Greco in North Beach for coffee & a light bite. Note: the cafe “only” takes cash. We’ll watch the neighborhood as it slowly wakes up and comes to life. Before the city gets too busy, we’ll make our way to “The Wiggle” after breakfast. This section of the route is particularly flat. It will take us from the Financial District to the Pan Handle and through Golden Gate Park down to the Great Highway.
On a dedicated bike/pedestrian path, the next loop is pass the Zoo and around Lake Merced then back to the Great Highway and up the hill into Sea Cliff. Through the neighborhood we’ll cycle to The Legion of Honor, enter a section of the Presidio, catch a glimpse of Golden Gate Bridge & Marin Headlands, then out to the Richmond District to “B on the Go” for lunch.
After lunch, we’ll make our way back into the Presidio, over to the Tunnel Top, Marina District and Fisherman’s Wharf back to the start.
