Wilma Chan Ride

In honor of the Alameda County supervisor who was fatally hit by a car last fall while walking her dog in Alameda, Madison Park in Oakland’s Chinatown will be renamed Wilma Chan Park. This hub across from the BART station is a popular gathering place for the community. The ceremony will debut new lights, signs and various upgrades with poetry, performances, live art and more from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.

Ride options:

1-  Approx 26 miles

Meet 8:30 for a 8:45 a.m. start from 21st Amendment 2010 Williams St San Leandro. We’ll make our way over to the MLK trail returning via Ron Cowan and the Bay Trail. Elevation 295.

2- Approx 13 miles

Take BART to the Lake Merritt station meet 11:00 a.m. at the corner of 9th & Jackson St, Oakland. After the ceremony, we will ride back together through Alameda along the Bay Trail into San Leandro to 21st Amendment, not far from the SL BART station. Elevation 158.

Food option:

For $10 per person (cash), you’ll receive a take-out Dim Sum lunch at the park upon your 11:00 arrival.
